Long Blue Line

Chicken coops and rain are not desirable. My coop was built with a chicken wire roof over the large run for the girls to sun themselves and eat during the day. At night, they would go inside to the sheltered portion of the coop which was 8x12. It was a good size for the number of girls I had however, the run in the rain produced a slick, smelly mess. Solution? A handy dandy tarp. It looked terrible ascetically, but it worked. One day the wind took it and it was found on the side of the coop. Chickens are not the smartest of animals. I came out to discover them pecking at the blue tarp shredding it like cabbage through the chicken wire fencing. It was removed and I wrote it off as a bad idea. Two days later, I noticed a small blue string was emerging from Mommas backside. What the hell? She ate the tarp! I went online and everything I read was either she will die or leave it alone. So I left it alone. That blue nylon line was attached to her and growing daily for days! On that 5th or 6th day, it was trailing behind her and now was about 16 inches long! By this time I could not stand it anymore and thought I should intervene - just a little tug on it and it was done. Momma was fine and never knew she had a long blue line coming out of her ass.
