The Hawk

One day, after picking up Sophia from preschool, I pulled up the drive to see my elderly neighbor flailing her arms and waving me down with the chicken coop behind her. I stopped the car and my four-year-old daughter jumps out and runs to see her favorite hen. I asked what was going on and she said she came to feed the chickens some kitchen scraps and there is a hawk trapped in the coop. I jumped out of the car to see my Sophia inside the coop standing within inches of the giant red hawk sitting on the perch meant for hens. Some how there was enough of a space open on the covered coop for the hawk to enter but it could not find its way out with its lunch. I carefully asked my daughter to slowly back away and to stop trying to pet the bird! I opened the coop door and before my daughter could even back out, it flew over her head and out - Another dead chicken.
